Joao Fonseca has really started making waves in the tennis world. This Brazilian talent clinched the Next Gen Finals in 2024 and followed up by winning the Argentina Open in 2025. Quite impressive for a player who’s quickly rising through the ranks!

Let’s dive into the details of Fonseca’s 2025 itinerary and find out where he’ll be showcasing his skills next.

The new year kicked off with Joao heading to Canberra for an ATP Challenger event in January. He dominated the court, besting American Ethan Quinn with a straight-sets victory of 6-4, 6-4.

Then came the Australian Open, where Fonseca fought his way through three qualifying matches. He pulled off a stunning win against Andrey Rublev in the first round, scoring 7-6, 6-3, 7-6. However, his journey ended in a gripping five-set battle against Lorenzo Sonego, where Joao fell 7-6, 3-6, 1-6, 6-3, 3-6 in the second round.

In Buenos Aires, at the Argentina Open, Joao tasted his first major triumph on the ATP circuit by defeating Francisco Cerúndolo in the final 6-4, 7-6. The highlights from that match are worth a watch!

Riding high after Buenos Aires, Joao faced some challenges, getting knocked out in the first round at the Rio Open by Alexandre Müller (1-6, 6-7) and then in the second round of the BNP Paribas Open against Jack Draper (4-6, 0-6).

Looking ahead, Fonseca’s next appearance will be at the Arizona Tennis Classic, scheduled from March 10th to 16th, 2025. Here’s a look at where else you can catch him competing this year:
