Okay, so here’s the thing. I got this random thought the other day about Aston Martin. You know, the car company, not the guy. Weird, huh? Anyway, Adrian Newey — yeah, that genius from Red Bull — jumped ship and headed over there in April. Can you imagine walking into a new gig and everyone’s like, “Hey, we love you”? Yeah, me neither. But apparently, they did.
So, Aston Martin’s sticking with Alonso and Stroll. Third year running, just trucking along. Last year was kinda rough for them; like one of those awkward family dinners where everyone’s pretending things are fine. They swapped out Mike Krack (I nearly laughed at the name, don’t judge) for Andy Cowell. CEO and team principal. That’s a lot of hats, right?
April rolls around, and Newey’s got his hands all over the 2026 car. It’s like giving an artist a blank canvas, except this one’s four wheels and a crazy engine. The season’s been a mixed bag so far. Kind of like trying to make a cake without butter. But Alonso’s gotten some points lately, so maybe they found the butter after all.
Oh, and the wind tunnel. They built this fancy shmancy one and fired it up in March. I have no idea why this bit fascinates me, but it’s like one of those things you wanna see but can’t, like the inside of a clock.
Newey seems pretty chill about his new home. Says they’re “welcoming.” That’s always the dream, right? Walking in and not feeling like the new kid eating alone at lunch. He did mention the whole growth in headcount thing. Makes me think of cartoon characters ballooning up after a huge meal. Facilities are top-notch, energy’s high, and they’re just trying to make the magic happen.
Talking about Lawrence Stroll — the big boss — Newey seems to have a good vibe with him. It’s one of those mutual trust type deals. Stroll was like, “Hey, you wanna drive our tech? Go for it.” And Newey’s all about the people. Sure, tech’s huge, but it’s the folks running around that make it tick.
I mean, F1’s nothing without them. That’s the vibe. Anyway, enough rambling. I’ll probably think of more stuff to say later. Who knows.
