Hey, so here’s the thing. The FIA World Endurance Championship is sticking with the same calendar for 2026. I mean, why mess with what’s working, right? Last year, over 750,000 fans crashed the gates — not literally, I hope — for the eight rounds, and Spa-Francorchamps was packed like sardines last month. And this weekend Le Mans is gonna be wild. Seriously, I can already smell the gasoline and, um, whatever they serve over there.
Anyway, or was it before? The championship’s cruising through five regions again — Europe, North America, South America, Asia-Pacific, and oh, the Middle East. Why does this sound like a geography lesson? They’re kicking things off a bit later in Qatar with this ‘Prologue’ shindig at the Lusail Circuit in March. Late March, to be exact. You know, if anyone’s booking flights or whatever.
Then, it’s a European tour — Imola, Spa, and the iconic Le Mans. That’s like the holy trinity of racing circuits, if you ask me. Wait, did I just say that? The second half? Long-haul flights, baby! Heading to Brazil in July — hope someone warned them about their infamous weather — then hopping to Austin, Fuji Speedway in Japan (legendary, right?), and wrapping up in Bahrain come November. Champions will be crowned and, I assume, champagne will be sprayed. Hope it doesn’t get in anyone’s eye. I tried it once, and it’s not fun.
Frédéric Lequien, the big boss over at FIA WEC, has been gushing about their 2026 calendar. He thinks it’s a winning formula. Well, the drivers and teams sure have their work cut out for them.
Pierre Fillon, the ACO prez, couldn’t hold back either. Seems the sport’s been growing faster than a teenager on a summer growth spurt. And yes, they’re sticking with their partners and circuits like peanut butter to jelly.
Meanwhile, Richard Mille (no, not the watch guy, I think) from the FIA Endurance Commission says they’re into this “consolidation and stability” phase. Sounds serious. I suppose after expanding like the universe in 2024, laying a solid foundation makes sense.
That’s the scoop. Hope it all makes sense. Or most of it, anyway.
