The Philadelphia 76ers decided to bring Chuma Okeke back on board with another 10-day contract. This isn’t his first stint with the team, as he had a brief run earlier this season following a similar contract signing on February 7th.
Okeke, who was first picked by the Orlando Magic as the 16th overall choice in the 2019 NBA Draft, has some solid stats under his belt. Over his career, he’s averaged 6.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and logged about 20.2 minutes per game across 190 appearances, splitting his time between Orlando and Philadelphia.
This season, Chuma has been making quite the impression with the Westchester Knicks in the NBA G League. During the 2024-25 season, he’s maintained an impressive average of 18.0 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game, along with 1.5 steals and 1.4 blocks. Remarkably, he’s scored 15 or more points in 18 of his 25 games, and he even hit the 30-point mark twice—once on January 22 against Raptors 905 and again on February 25 against the Long Island Nets.
Before turning pro, Okeke showcased his talents at Auburn University. During his college basketball tenure from 2017 to 2019, he earned a spot on the SEC All-Tournament Team, playing a crucial role in leading the Tigers to claim the conference championship in 2019. His performance in the NCAA Midwest Regional was also noteworthy, as he achieved averages of 15 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals, 2.3 assists, and 1 block, helping Auburn make it to the Elite Eight.
