Morning.
So, quick Sunday thoughts. Heard the buzz about Kepa? Seems like the deal’s on the horizon after David Ornstein (yeah, that guy) hinted at it. And our buddy James mentioned Kepa’s ready to scrap for his spot. Funny, right? World’s priciest keeper joining Arsenal to play second fiddle to David Raya. Shows you how these big-money moves are a gamble, doesn’t it? One minute it’s “Look at our shiny new star!”, next it’s like oops, maybe timing, market whims, or just plain old overconfidence had a bigger say.
We’ve danced this dance with Nicolas Pepe, remember him? A summer of 2019 buzz turned into a “Was that it?” moment. Emery didn’t want him, Arteta wasn’t a fan either. One smashing season in France and boom, we threw cash at it. He did more than folks admit, I think, but still didn’t hit the mark.
Anyway — back to Kepa — seems like £5m well spent for a solid stand-by for Raya. Goalkeeping at Arsenal’s been a bit of a soap opera, hasn’t it? From Emi Martinez’s big break and scooting off to Villa, to the “Did we really just get Ramsdale?” to him knocking Leno off his perch just like that. Ramsdale clicked with the squad, then along came Raya and he’s the main man. Arteta’s chatter on needing two top keepers, but only using one has been its own saga. The cameras don’t help, cutting to Ramsdale every time Raya made a move. And the Joan Garcia chase, absolute chaos, wrapping up with backups nobody had confidence in.
Oh, and can’t forget Runarsson. Hopefully, Arsenal’s goalie gurus are chill now — two prime Spanish keepers should keep the vibes good on the training ground. Let’s sort out other positions without this circus, yeah? Makes sense, right?
Until…
Right, that’s all for now. Enjoy your Sunday, folks.
