Oh boy, where do I even start with this? So apparently, tickets are out in the wild for the 2025 Rocket Classic. I mean, grab ‘em while they’re hot, right? Anyway, it’s all happening on good old Detroit soil again (second verse, same as the first), at the Detroit Golf Club, which — and maybe this is just me being a sucker for tradition — is pretty darn cool. Seriously though, check it out June 25-29 if you’ve got nothing better to do.
I should mention that all ticket stuff is digital. I guess paper is ancient history now. They’re selling like hotcakes at RocketClassic.com with prices starting at $65. If you ask me, that’s like a fancy dinner, just with less food and more golf. There’s also the LendingTree Lounge and Club Ace, priced at $120 and $230, respectively. They sound like they offer more comfort and pretentiousness (in the best way possible, I promise).
Now, get this: if you’re a student with a .edu email address — lucky you — there’s a quirky deal in honor of Detroit’s 313 area code. Why? No clue. But hey, you get 31.3% off each day. Like, almost a third off for just proving you’re still studying. Genius.
Oh, and if you’re dragging kids along (wouldn’t blame ya), up to four munchkins under 15 get in free with a grown-up who’s got a ticket. Don’t know why it’s only four, but rules are rules, I guess.
There’s something called the LendingTree Lounge where you get a killer view of the 16th fairway and green, 17th tee, and 13th green. The most charitable holes or whatever — AREA 313 they called it. They toss in an international menu and even pimp up the restroom situation. What’s that all about, right?
Club Ace ups the snootiness with nice views and FREE drinks — beer, wine, and seltzers. But wait, if that doesn’t tickle your fancy, an upgraded food menu awaits. Spoil yourself, maybe? Heck, why not.
The parking… ugh, I sometimes forget about the parking. University of Detroit Mercy is offering free parking Wednesday. The rest of the days it’s on Wayne State turf, setting you back just $20. Always good to factor in that extra expense. They’ll shuttle you back and forth, so think of it as a mini field trip if you’re into that sort of thing.
And one more thing, be a student, military, or a first responder, and you might score some free tickets. Folds of Honor and those folks at Irreverent Warriors are handling that. Just make sure to act fast since it’s all like a ‘while supplies last’ kinda deal.
Anyway, since Rocket’s been at it since 2019, they’ve thrown down nearly $10 million for local causes and have even snagged some fancy awards. Not bragging, it’s just fact. They’re all about ‘Changing the Course’ or something equally noble — closing the digital gap in Detroit, you know? Ponder that while lounging in some posh hospitality suite. That’s golf for you.
Catch you on the green, or not. Whatever floats your boat.
