Verstappen Won’t Challenge Lewis This Year

Juan Pablo Montoya, the former F1 ace, has set tongues wagging with some bold predictions concerning the upcoming season. He foresees an intense three-way tussle for the championship crown, spotlighting McLaren, Ferrari, and Red Bull as the key contenders.

Montoya has pegged McLaren, affectionately dubbed Team Papaya, as the top dog this year, closely followed by Ferrari and none other than Lewis Hamilton. He also voices some concerns, hinting that there could be sparks flying at McLaren with both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri potentially clashing on the track.

Turning his attention to Red Bull and Max Verstappen, Montoya isn’t convinced the Dutch star will secure yet another triumph, given the team’s erratic performances heading into 2024.

### Hamilton Betting Big with Ferrari

Discussing Hamilton’s strategic move to Ferrari, Montoya sees it as a shrewd gamble that could deliver substantial gains. “Whenever someone switches teams like Lewis has, they usually say they’re happier and more at ease—typical PR stuff really,” Montoya shared with OnlineCassino.com.

But Montoya thinks there’s more to Hamilton’s leap than mere PR. He believes Hamilton’s hunger for victory could propel him to greater heights. “He’s driven. He’s chasing that win with a fervor that shouldn’t be underestimated,” Montoya added.

Reflecting on Ferrari’s strides made late last season, Montoya feels Hamilton might just thrive there. “Predicting Ferrari’s prowess is tricky, but they closed last year hot on McLaren’s heels—which is saying something.”

### The Leclerc Equation

With Hamilton now part of Ferrari, team dynamics are in the spotlight. Montoya warns that harmony with Charles Leclerc is crucial. “The key issue is how Leclerc’s partnership with Hamilton will unfold. That’s vital—how well they gel and how capably Ferrari steers their collaboration,” he points out.

Interestingly, Montoya believes Ferrari may end up prioritizing Hamilton, even if they publicly vouch for equality. “It’s in their best interest to rally behind Lewis, despite the talk of equal status,” he suggests.

For Leclerc, the playing field could be tricky, yet Montoya advises a pragmatic approach. “If Charles plays it smart and gleans from Lewis, he might learn a great deal. But considering his completeness as a driver, swallowing his pride might be tough.”

Montoya bets that nurturing a team spirit could lead Ferrari to future glory. “If Lewis stumbles, Charles can bag those wins. But if he’s second, he’ll be racking up those crucial points. By season’s end, who knows?”

### Red Bull’s Uphill Battle

Montoya is skeptical about Verstappen’s chances for a third straight title, pointing to Red Bull’s hurdles, especially after Adrian Newey’s switch to Aston Martin. “Verstappen isn’t going to lose sleep over Lewis this year,” Montoya says bluntly about Red Bull’s prospects.

He notes that Red Bull’s challenges are deeper than they seem. “When things stop clicking, figuring out how far to backtrack can be daunting. You’ve got to believe in your direction and stand by it, or risk going adrift.”

### McLaren’s Team Dynamics

While Ferrari and Red Bull have their battles, Montoya sees McLaren as a formidable contender for 2025, applauding their knack for translating development into success. “McLaren is excelling by pinpointing needs and implementing them effectively,” he asserts.

Yet, he also hints at potential internal strife due to McLaren’s egalitarian ethos toward Norris and Piastri. Initially, things might start smooth, but as the championship heat intensifies, the situation could turn dicey.

“Though they coexist well now, things might unravel towards the end of the year if both have a shot at the title,” he warns.

### Anticipating a Thrilling Showdown

Montoya paints a captivating scenario for 2025, predicting an electrifying battle between the top three teams. With a recharged Ferrari, a shaken Red Bull, and a promising McLaren, fans are in for an unpredictable season.

Whether Hamilton’s calculated risk with Ferrari pays dividends, Verstappen overcomes Red Bull’s tribulations, or McLaren’s driver duo finds harmony, remains to be seen. But one thing’s certain: this season’s championship race is poised to be anything but ordinary.
