GolfBlogger Weekly Recap: July 19–25, 2025
Okay, so here’s the deal with last week’s shenanigans over on GolfBlogger.com. I swear, I intended to keep it organized, but you know how it goes. Anyway, let’s get into it.
Doon Brae Short Course Review
First up is the Doon Brae Short Course. Man, this place is like your favorite local diner—simple but hits the spot. It’s got that creative layout that keeps you on your toes. Putting with the Back Yaird is like the cherry on top. Honestly, just go there. You’ll understand.
Emerald Hills Golf Course Review
Now, Emerald Hills, which used to be Awyn Downs (no idea when that changed—mad confusing). It’s charming, like a worn-out leather jacket. Maybe not edgy enough for the "pros," but for the rest of us mere mortals, it’s a decent round of golf.
Best vs. Favorite Courses
This bit? Total brain teaser. The GolfBlogger dips into the whole “best vs. favorite courses” argument. It’s a bit philosophical, really. Sometimes what your heart wants ain’t the fanciest out there. Like, why do I still love that old cartoon instead of the blockbuster everyone’s raving about? Same vibe.
Three New Courses Added To “Collection”
Oh, and the GolfBlogger’s personal mission—playing every course in Michigan. Three more courses in the bag, and that list just keeps on growing. It’s mind-boggling. Over 300 now. Who’s counting at this point? Well, apparently, they are.
GAM Senior Four-Ball Champions Crowned
Winning vibes are in the air. Mike Ignasiak and Randy Frederick snagged their second, yes second, GAM Senior Four-Ball Championship. Those guys are on fire, seriously.
Mason Sokolowski Wins Publinx State Match Play
And then there’s Mason Sokolowski. He totally took down 2021 Champ, Anthony Sorentino, to grab the 2025 Publinx State Match Play win. Epic isn’t even the word.
GAM Women’s & Boys’ Championship Previews
Switching gears to what’s coming up, there’s the GAM Women’s Championship happening at Oakland University. Also, the boys are gearing up for their shot at Washtenaw Golf Club. Feels like everyone’s got something to prove these days.
Juszczyk Returns to Boyne
And, oh boy, Joe Juszczyk is back—defending his title at Boyne. It’s like when the superhero returns for the sequel and you just know it’s gonna be a showdown.
Golf Poetry from Chick Evans
Here’s a quirky little nugget—some poetry! Yep, a poem from Chick Evans. It’s quaint, old-school, and from 1921. "A Chronic Semi-Finalist." If you’re into nostalgic trips, give it a gander.
Golf Meets Chess
Wrapping things up with something totally out there—a golf-themed chess set. I mean, really? It’s crowned the Ridiculous Golf Item of the Week. Because why not, right?
And there you have it. Hope you managed to stick around till the end. Maybe read it twice because, oops, it got messy there. See you on the green or at least lost in an endless web of golfy goodness.
