You know, sometimes you just get lost down those social media rabbit holes. I mean, one minute you’re checking your friend’s cat video, and then suddenly, you’re knee-deep in a heated debate about football players like Shedeur Sanders. Not sure why, but a chunk of Pittsburgh Steelers fans seem really opposed to the guy, which, I don’t really get? Sure, some critique his tendency to eat a sack or two – but then there’s the unnecessarily harsh “Kenny Pickett 2.0” jabs. Like, what even is that about?
Anyway, as the draft looms closer, Sanders and the Steelers seem to be getting chummier. Mike Tomlin even talked about how Sanders visited and made a good impression. And it’s like when your friend meets someone new and suddenly can’t stop mentioning them.
Peter Schrager, over on The Pat McAfee Show, seemed all fired up about Sanders possibly landing in Pittsburgh too. It’s like when everyone at brunch starts talking about the latest Netflix release – can’t escape it. Schrager thinks 21st pick and the Steelers? Seems like a match made in gridiron heaven.
Now, it’s great conversations all around for Sanders and the Steelers. Except for Aaron Wilson – he’s like that one person at a party insisting the earth is flat. Though, you can’t deny Tomlin and Schrager’s optimism. Apparently, Sanders also vibed well with offensive coordinator Arthur Smith – and let’s face it, quarterback-coordinator chemistry can be rockier than a prom dance floor.
Whether Tomlin gets the final say in draft day madness or not is… well, it’s up there with the mystery of if cats really have nine lives. But rumors from Tony Pauline say Shedeur Sanders is kind of Tomlin’s dude. Schrager warns Sanders might be snatched up by the Giants before any black-and-gold confetti gets thrown, though. I mean, picture the Giants elbowing their way in for Sanders – it’s like the last donut in the box scenario.
If the Steelers end up choosing him, it’s fingers crossed for Sanders becoming the new cornerstone QB they need. But hey, if not – cue the “I told you so’s” from the naysayers. The drama, I tell ya.
