Sure, here’s a reimagined version:
You ever notice how college sports always feels like it’s teetering on some kind of edge? No? Maybe it’s just me. Anyway, like that, the Big 12’s been sitting under this cloud of speculation—just kinda wondering if it’s gonna survive this whole collegiate sports shake-up thing. Oh, by the way, Brett Yormark’s been steering this ship for, what, three years now? Guy thinks outside the box, and somehow, the league seems kind of, I don’t know, stable. Weird, right?
So, last season, Arizona State almost pulled a sneaky on Texas in the college playoffs. Like, they were this close. Coach Kenny Dillingham’s definitely cooking something spicy over there. Not sure why I noticed that, but it just stuck with me.
Fast forward to 2025. Look, here’s a handful of Big 12 games that are gonna do a number on the playoff picture:
First up, Iowa State vs. Kansas State on Aug. 23. They’re shipping Farmageddon over to Dublin, Ireland. Like, really? Dublin? Isn’t that like miles too far for college football? Anyway, don’t sleep on this one—it’s early, sure, but it’s got teeth. K-State’s QB, Avery Johnson, well, he’s everywhere and nowhere all at once. Last season, he was tossing INTs like they were free samples, except against Iowa State. Go figure.
Alright, Sept. 20, Texas Tech’s got a gig at Utah. There’s this mess of question marks on Texas Tech—NIL deals flying around, shiny new players from the ESPN portal. The works. Meanwhile, Utah, bless ’em, absolutely tanked last season. Coach Whittingham’s one of the good ones, so maybe there’s hope? We’ll see whose game face is real in Salt Lake.
Then there’s Kansas State hitting the road to Baylor on Oct. 4. Baylor, they got themselves together last year, closing on a bang with six straight wins. Seems their QB Sawyer Robertson’s back for more—should get interesting. This begins a real mission for K-State. Think road games, think pressure. It’s all lined up for Baylor to make some noise.
Whoa, what’s next? Arizona State at Utah, Oct. 11. By this point, Utah should’ve shown their hand—either they’re bouncing back or tumbling down. Sam Leavitt, ASU’s QB, remember, he had a rough go against Utah before. Imagine what it’s gonna be like this time. Utah’s defense is solid, ten returning starters and all, despite last season’s saga of missed chances.
And then, hold your breath—Oct. 18. It’s like a circus came to town in the Big 12. Texas Tech at Arizona State, Utah duking it out with BYU in Provo, and TCU hosting Baylor. Call it chaos week. Six teams juggling for the top spots. Who knows how it’ll pan out, but you can sense the ground’s about to shift.
And yeah, maybe I rambled, but college football’s all about those tangles, right?
