FIA TO BRING GLOBAL LEADERS TOGETHER IN STOCKHOLM TO TACKLE ONLINE ABUSE IN SPORT

So, let me get this straight—FIA’s going all out, hitting Stockholm in September. Yeah, the whole shebang about, you guessed it, online abuse. They’re throwing this big conference. Picture this: top folks from sports, politics, and social media, all in one room, probably sipping on fancy coffee and trying to sound smart. It’s a big mixer to tackle digital nastiness.

And who’s in on this party? Big wigs like The Football Association (FA), an F1 Presenter (Natalie Pinkham—she’s pretty cool, right?), and some techy names like Sportradar and Arwen.AI. Oh, and loads of athletic big shots from all over. All cozied up to fight the good fight.

Now, here’s the juicy backstory: The whole deal kicked off in 2023, courtesy of FIA’s head honcho, Mohammed Ben Sulayem. He’s got this grand vision—make mean comments a thing of the past. He’s been drumming up noise with groundbreaking studies and awareness stuff that usually make people’s eyes glaze over. But hey, the point is, let’s all play nice online, or something.

Mohammed himself says—paraphrasing—online nastiness is ruining sports for everyone. No one should face hate just for, well, doing what they love in sports. His plan? Bring everyone together in Stockholm (with probably more than a few eye rolls and some skeptical chuckles) and turn talk into action. But still, that’s the idea, fixing the digital fields of play.

Then there’s Anna. She’s like, “Look at us Swedes being all hospitable with this event.” Sweden’s cool with safe and sound communities—or so she says. She’s hoping for big alliances, knowledge-sharing, and maybe even practical solutions to come from this.

Valerio jumps in too, talking about how motorsport is all about the people—drivers, volunteers, the whole crew. No one should be vilified for hustling in their passion. The upcoming gabfest is their shot at showing they walk the chat on online decency.

Anyway, wait—this Stockholm thing is a pretty big deal, making UAOA the shiny beacon against online trash-talk in sports. They’ve even got endorsers (like countries and sports bigwigs) all over from Greece to Rwanda. It’s a real patchwork of support.

So, fingers crossed, yeah? This conference might just sprinkle a bit of pixie dust on these efforts and make online spaces friendlier. Or not. Who knows? But hope’s the thing that’s got them all heading to Stockholm. Let’s see how it plays out.

—ENDS—

For questions or just a chat about it, reach out to whoever handles UAOA’s media stuff.

Oh, and a quick nod to who these folks are: UAOA’s the anti-nastiness squad founded by FIA’s main man, Mohammed. They’re out there doing research, pushing ideas, getting hugs from governments. All to make sure sports folks can type and talk without dodging hate. Peace Award thingy in 2024 was a cherry on top.

As for FIA, they’ve been around since 1904, taming motorsport chaos and being the big kahunas of car-loving. Paris, London, Geneva—they’re all over, keeping roads and racetracks safe and fair. Sweden’s just the next pit stop.
