Here’s how this might look if written with that slightly chaotic, raw, and personal touch:

So, the 2025 Rothesay County Championship – what a whirlwind, right? I’m just here trying to make sense of it (spoiler: it’s not easy). Picture this: four days of cricket chaos, drama everywhere. Warwickshire did that thing. You know, where they chase down 339. But oh boy, they had only one wicket left. My heart almost stopped. No kidding.
Elsewhere, Sussex and Yorkshire finally decided, "Hey, how about we win one?" They did just that. Poor Worcestershire. Not their week. Again. Feel for those guys – must be rough on them, though it might be funny if you’re not them.
Hampshire and Surrey just couldn’t decide on a winner down south, so they, um, shook hands. And Trent Bridge, with Nottinghamshire and Essex, was all set to explode but ended up… fizzling out like a damp firework. Happens, I guess.
Down in Division Two, Kent’s off on a little ‘we-might-get-promoted’ tour with two wins. Northamptonshire tried their best but ended up just chilling with a draw at Lancashire. Other places like Bristol and Leicester, scores were mounting, yet wins? Nah, just draws. Draws everywhere.
Here are my picks. Highlights, or whatever you call them, of those four days that I’m still reeling from:
-
Cameron Bancroft (Gloucestershire): Fresh off the plane (or however he got here), and boom! 163 runs off 267 balls. Gloucestershire hit 546. Take that, Glamorgan.
-
Dom Sibley (Surrey): Surrey’s champion couldn’t keep his bat down – scoring century after century against Hampshire. Made Surrey look almost untouchable. Almost.
-
Dawid Malan (Yorkshire): Wicked player. Two half-centuries. Helped clobber Worcestershire by 504 runs – yeah, you read that right. Biggest smashing in County history. Impressed? You should be.
-
Colin Ingram (Glamorgan): Ever-reliable at 39, still holding the fort. Scored big despite Glamorgan’s struggle with rain and Gloucestershire. Quite a fight from him, really.
-
Kai Smith (Warwickshire): Young gun, only 20, but what a warrior! Smacking 79 to help Warwickshire stay in the game, then 62 in the second innings when things got sticky. Honestly, impressed.
-
John Simpson (Sussex): Another century for his scrapbook and a record number of catches against Somerset. Why is he so good? Somebody’s gotta tell me.
-
Ben Raine (Durham): Pulled off a killer 81 when Durham was in serious trouble but, ah, yet not quite enough to swing things in their favor though.
-
Jordan Thompson (Yorkshire): A swift 70 and then picking wickets like apples from a tree against Worcestershire. That’s how you do it.
-
Calvin Harrison (Northamptonshire): On loan, makes 56, then bam! 11 wickets throughout the match. Maybe someone should keep him around. Just saying…
-
Michael Booth (Warwickshire): This guy was on fire. Batting, bowling – the whole shebang. Seriously, Warwickshire owes him a beer or two.
- Sean Hunt (Sussex): Career-best moments, running through Somerset’s batters like he has something to prove. Get this man a trophy or at least a high-five for those match figures.
Oh, honorable mentions? Yeah, got a few. Like Josh Bohannon, Jack Haynes, and George Hill. New records, career-bests; everyone seems to be shooting for the stars.
Cricket’s crazy, huh? Sometimes indistinguishable between thrilling reality and a fever dream. But that’s why we love it. Maybe.
