Oh wow, so here’s a thing. Ben Shelton, right? Just jumped up a couple of rungs to squeeze into that No. 10 spot on the ATP ladder. And, get this, that means the U.S. has three dudes in the top 10 – Taylor Fritz sitting cozy at No. 4 and Tommy Paul at No. 8. It’s like a throwback to 2006. Remember when Andy Roddick, James Blake, and Andre Agassi were all up there? Yeah, me neither, but it was a thing.
What about the women, you ask? Right, so, four American women are rocking it in the WTA top 10. Coco Gauff at No. 2, then Jessica Pegula just behind her at No. 3. Madison Keys is hanging at No. 6 and Emma Navarro at No. 9. Oh, and Amanda Anisimova, not to leave her out, creeps in at No. 13.
Anyway, Aryna Sabalenka’s still queen bee at No. 1. Iga Swiatek was there, but now she’s chillin’ at No. 8? Weird how rankings just yo-yo like that.
And who’s this Tatjana Maria? She’s 37 – yeah, you read that right – and just leaped 43 places up to No. 43 after nabbing the Queen’s Club crown. Talk about age just being a number, huh?
Back to Shelton – the guy’s only 22 and already got some major clout. University of Florida alum, won the NCAA singles title in ’22. And he’d barely left the U.S. until last year. Third season on tour, by the way. Crazy fast climb – he’s hit the semis in two Grand Slams already.
Oh, and Fritz, he’s on the rise too, reaching a personal high after snagging a trophy in Stuttgart. But Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, and Alexander Zverev are still chilling at the top spots. It’s like musical chairs, but everyone’s sitting except Fritz, who’s nabbing all the chairs. Man, tennis is wild.
