Okay, so here’s a thing. I’m sitting at this coffee shop, right? And someone’s yammering about Aaron Rodgers. Yep, that guy. Somehow, he’s now with the Pittsburgh Steelers, of all teams. And he’s like…41? More power to him. The Jets had a pretty meh season with him — just five wins. So, what’s Pittsburgh thinking?
Is this guy gonna hold up for another season? Can he even do the job? Who knows. I mean, eventually, we’ll figure it out when stuff goes down on the field. But Bart Scott — remember him? Former linebacker, now yapping on ESPN — says Rodgers will bring some sort of magic or whatever to the Steelers.
Scott’s all about how the playoffs could be wild, and who knows what could happen. Wild Card means maybe heading to Houston, or wherever the AFC South champs decide to call home. Scott is like, “Rodgers won’t freak out. He’ll keep the crew chill.” Steelers are all about defense — always have been, it seems. But they need a QB to actually make that crucial throw or play. Rodgers supposedly still has the brains for it.
The dude’s arm? Apparently still gold. Sure, maybe his legs aren’t great anymore, but hey, who needs those when you’re chucking footballs, right? Steelers are hoping Rodgers has a bit more juice left. Last season with the Jets didn’t totally suck at the end, so maybe there’s a flicker.
Steelers even snagged DK Metcalf, which sounds pretty big, plus Kaleb Johnson in the draft. And they were trying to return to the past or something with Justin Fields and even looked at Matthew Stafford. Wound up with Rodgers instead. Fingers crossed he’ll help them actually win a playoff game.
Last time they did that was 2016, which feels like forever ago. They’ve been getting into playoffs, sure, but then it all goes to pot. Ugh. Steelers want to update their whole deal, like a spring cleaning but for football. Rodgers is supposed to be this bridge, not just a band-aid for 2025. They’ve hit a brick wall five playoff trips in a row, and it’s honestly just annoying.
Winning a Wild Card game would be epic for them. Does Rodgers fix their big offensive mess at his age? Hard to say. History doesn’t scream yes, but Bart Scott seems optimistic. Guess we’ll all find out soon enough.
