Aston Villa is contemplating a renewed bid to bring Chelsea’s forward Joao Felix on board this summer, possibly offering him a way out of Stamford Bridge. Felix, who’s 25, is currently on loan at AC Milan, but earlier this year, there was talk of Villa being interested before he ended up heading to the Serie A team instead.
Things haven’t been going great for Felix at Milan. In his first 10 outings across various competitions, he’s only managed to score once and provide a single assist. His quest to find the back of the net in Serie A remains unfulfilled. With Milan not having an option to make the move permanent, it looks like he’ll be back at Chelsea once the season wraps up.
Even though Felix has had a tough time settling into the rhythm of English football, reports suggest that Aston Villa’s manager, Unai Emery, is still interested in bringing him aboard for good. Chelsea, meanwhile, is open to letting the Portuguese forward go, but they want to make sure they get a hefty fee, considering they shelled out £46.3 million to snatch him from Atletico Madrid last year.
But it’s not just about convincing Chelsea; Villa also needs to sort out financial considerations before securing Felix’s signature. The player’s current weekly wage of £67,100 at Milan could pose a significant hurdle. Moreover, Villa is also considering other options for their attacking lineup, with names like Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford and Paris Saint-Germain’s Marco Asensio reportedly on their radar.
Chelsea, keen on recovering their investment, isn’t looking to offload Felix without the right price. If the offers on the table aren’t satisfactory, they might choose to loan him out once more for the 2025-26 season and re-evaluate the situation afterward.
As for Milan, they seem unlikely to make a move for Felix beyond his loan stint, especially given his lackluster performance and their own financial challenges, compounded by a ninth-place standings and missing out on the Champions League.
With the summer transfer window around the corner, Villa’s chances of landing Felix could hinge on their ability to overcome financial hurdles and decide whether he should be prioritized over other potential attacking additions.
