Kansas State Football Sees Success in 2026 Recruiting Week

So, last week, Kansas State wrapped up their spring practice. Maybe it was just me, but the buzz seemed more about the future than the present. Coach Chris Klieman, bless him, isn’t just looking at this season—he’s scheming for years ahead. Not that I blame him. Who wouldn’t be excited about new recruits?

Anyway, here’s the big scoop: they snagged Dejon Ackerson, a linebacker. From Oklahoma’s Putnam City, to be exact. This guy’s a three-star gem, standing tall at 6-foot-3 and weighing in at 193 pounds. Pretty sure the locals in Oklahoma State and Oklahoma aren’t too thrilled—they had their eyes on him too. But surprise! Ackerson is headed to the Wildcats.

Now, there’s this little side note that really gets me. Ackerson visited Manhattan on April 17. Did he fall in love with the place or was it just perfect timing? Eh, who knows?

Just before Ackerson, another name popped up—Lemarcus Barber, an offensive lineman from Mill Valley High School. Seems like K-State’s got a soft spot for talent from their own backyard. Barber’s quite the catch, with offers from places like Iowa State knocking too. I mean, the guy’s 6-3 and 280 pounds. Sounds like he’s ready to bulldoze anything in his path.

Oh, wait, where was I? Right, commitments. The Wildcats have been pulling a few strings lately, and Barber isn’t the first Mill Valley star they’ve nabbed. There’s a bunch like Sam Hecht and Gus Hawkins already making waves there.

But let’s not forget Texas cornerback Brandon Ford. He was the first to give his nod for 2026, way back in October. That one’s been simmering for a while.
