‘I Possess the World’s Finest Team’

Let me tell you, I was sitting there watching this PSG versus Aston Villa game, right? And you know how sometimes you’re just there for the drama, not really expecting much. Well, well. Luis Enrique, the PSG boss, decides to drop a bomb after they scraped through to the Champions League semis. The man straight-up claims he’s got the best squad on the planet. I mean, whoa, that’s a statement. You kind of raise your eyebrow, don’t you? Especially since, you know, they lost Mbappe to Real Madrid last year. How does one even say that with a straight face? But maybe he’s got a point. I dunno.

Okay, so let’s backtrack a bit. PSG had already done a pretty tidy job in the first leg, winning 3-1 away. That’s like setting the tone, right from the start, as if saying, “Don’t even try, Villa.” And now, in this second leg, they were ripping it with goals from Hakimi and Mendes. I remember sitting there thinking, “Alright, PSG, you’ve got this.” It was 2-0 by the 27th minute! Villa then needing a miracle — like four goals just to get into extra time? Sounded insane.

And then, Villa goes all dramatic on us. First, Tielemans scores this fluke goal that pings off another dude, Pacho — totally not that guy’s night. Then McGinn’s shot, helped by you-know-who, slides past Donnarumma. And right after, Konsa decides to jump in on the action, making it 3-2. I was literally on the edge of my seat thinking, “Is this happening? Is PSG actually going to bottle it?”

But nah. Villa Park was buzzing, mad energy. Yet, no dice. Donnarumma stepped up, swatting away every ball like they were a swarm of flies. And Pacho gets his redemption moment, stops Maatsen’s shot in stoppage time. That was it, PSG’s through.

Afterwards, Enrique’s asked if Donnarumma’s the best goalie. And dude just goes, “I’ve got the best team, not just a keeper.” Big mood. But hey, they did knock out Villa and had a solid win over Liverpool, so maybe he’s not completely off the rails.

Enrique also chatters about learning from the Villa game, like it’s a step up the ladder or whatever. And he’s kinda right. That second half was nuts, Villa was all over them. But PSG, they stuck it out. So yeah, maybe there’s something to it.

Now they’re set to face Arsenal or Real Madrid next. Arsenal’s three goals up, but with Mbappe and Madrid? Anyone can pull a rabbit out of the hat. Anyway, we’ll just have to see. Who knows what’s coming next. But if you ask Enrique, he’s already got the world’s best squad. Not sure if I’m totally buying that, but guess what, stranger things have happened — like last night’s chaos!
