UFC Fighter Subtly Disses Dana White in Rap Song: “That’s Why I Wrote It”

So, picture this: It’s 2018, and Tyron Woodley, who at the time was kind of a big deal in the UFC Welterweight world—like, he was THE champ—dropped this rap track called “I’ll Beat Yo Ass.” And in such classic Woodley fashion, he released it right after he completely owned Darren Till at UFC 228. Good timing or… not? Anyway, the song, for some reason, got infamous pretty fast.

The irony in all this—seriously, it’s like something out of a comedy sketch—is that after dishing out that track, Woodley hasn’t really whooped anyone’s ass since. He’s on this unfortunate streak of losing four fights in MMA. And if that wasn’t enough, he stepped into the boxing ring only to get his lights punched out by none other than Jake Paul—twice. Ouch.

Cut to the present, Woodley pops up on this podcast called Verse Us, with Eric Nicksick, who’s this mega coach over at Xtreme Couture. Turns out, Woodley isn’t just rapping about generic punching; he’s actually throwing some serious, albeit metaphorical, jabs at Dana White, the UFC boss. Who would’ve guessed?

He basically spills the beans, saying, “That’s why I made that song, I’ll Beat Yo Ass.” He was like secretly aiming those lyrics at Dana White. Apparently, White made him look dumb, and honestly, I can picture Woodley just wanting to call him out so bad (but he couldn’t just say that in so many words, right?).

Their whole boss-fighter relationship kind of hit the rocks—it was like they were frenemies or something—and that tension is what sparked the whole song-writing thing.

Fast-forward a bit, it’s 2022, and Woodley hasn’t fought in MMA for like, forever (okay, four years, but who’s counting?). There were some chatters about him maybe doing a gig in the Global Fight League—or GFL as the cool kids call it—but who even knows if that’s ever gonna happen at this point. Life’s unpredictable like that. The dude’s still got plenty of fight left, but maybe not the motivation. Or opportunity. Or… well, who knows really.

By the way, if you’re a fight junkie or just feel like procrastinating, go look at UFC’s upcoming schedule. It’s wild—like never-ending. Anyway, that’s the whole Woodley drama, packed with a bit of rap, some knockout blunders, and a tad bit of Dana dissing. Keep your eye out, maybe he’ll surprise us all.
