Man, where do I even start with this one? So, ya know, at UFC 314 there’s this dude, Paddy Pimblett, right? And he took on Michael Chandler — yeah, that same Chandler who was a big shot over at Bellator with that Lightweight Champ title under his belt. Anyhoo, everyone and their grandma thought Paddy might be biting off more than he could chew. But forget about it! Paddy walks out there, does his magical thing, and bam! Submits Chandler in round three. Like, whoa, didn’t see that coming!
Now, everyone’s buzzing that Paddy’s gonna snatch Chandler’s number-seven spot on the UFC lightweight totem pole by Tuesday. Crazy, right? Then, instead of just letting the guy have his moment, enter stage left — Colby Covington from welterweight, trying to rain on the Pimblett parade. Oh, Colby, you old trickster.
So, ESPN got this juicy bit on their social media. Picture this: Pimblett just crushed it, and there’s Colby, and they’re tossing these verbal grenades at one another. Brett Okamoto’s dying to know what went down and gets Pimblett on the record. Paddy goes, “Man, he only pulls his stunts when he knows the camera’s rolling,” or something like that. Couldn’t help but laugh.
Pimblett spilled more tea, saying he spotted Colby at Power Slap and gave him the old stink-eye. But Colby? Apparently, he was more interested in the floor tiles! And then, Paddy’s like, “Colby, bro, I’ll slap you silly, but you’ll just rat me out like you did with Jorge Masvidal, you snitch.” Sorry, “Grass.” Ah, that Scouse lingo.
Remember that time back in 2022 when Covington went all “hello, 911” on Masvidal’s, uh, alleged assault? Yeah, fun times. Pimblett’s not done, though. Calls Covington irrelevant, on a three-loss skid — bit harsh, yet entertaining. Says he’s just trying to cling to any scrap of attention by beefing with Paddy. Ouch.
Paddy reckons he’s got bigger fish, or maybe sharks, to battle than dealing with Colby. Gotta love the confidence. Anyway, if you wanna see him dish out more, catch that full sit-down with Okamoto.
