Jets’ Andre Cisco Teases Shedeur Sanders for a Signal at Colorado Pro Day

As the clock ticks down to the 2025 NFL Draft, discussions are heating up, particularly around the quarterback prospects. Everyone has their opinions, and recently, Andre Cisco shared some thoughts directed at Shedeur Sanders.

On Friday, Cisco, now part of the Jets’ defense, shared a video on X showcasing Sanders during his Colorado pro day. Cisco’s advice to the upcoming star was concise: stop patting the ball before releasing it.

“Boy better stop patting that ball, we breakin onnat earlyyyy,” Cisco tweeted, adding his own flair to the critique. For someone who’s snagged eight interceptions in his career, it’s clearly something he feels strongly about.

Despite Cisco’s comments, NFL scouts and talent evaluators at Colorado’s pro day didn’t seem overly concerned about Sanders’ ball-patting habit. According to a report from Fox Sports, a top NFL executive actually came away impressed with Sanders, noting that his throws had more power and velocity than anticipated.

“He throws a really catchable ball,” the executive shared. “Accuracy is one thing, but catchability is another. Shedeur’s got both. Watching him live, there was more power — more velocity — than expected. He’s definitely a pocket passer, but agile enough to buy time and make plays. His college offensive line might have been a challenge, but turnovers weren’t an issue for him.”

Adding another layer to the conversation, Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton jumped in after Cisco’s remarks. Slayton, possibly eyeing Sanders as a future teammate, had a bit of a laugh about the ball-patting critique.

“I promise he can pat the ball and be just fine,” Slayton posted on X, complete with laughing emojis. “If DBs were so good at breaking on ball pats, they’d all have 8+ picks a year. The same guys who fall for a 2 man dagger concept and give up the dig on 3rd & long every season.”

Though Slayton’s comments aren’t a direct hint at the Giants’ draft plans, they did send a sizable group to watch both Sanders and his teammate, Travis Hunter, in action. Sanders wrapped up the showcase with an impressive performance, completing 58 of 63 passes, with three of those misses attributed to drops.

As draft day approaches, all eyes remain on Shedeur Sanders and where he will land. His showcase left a lasting impression, and Cisco and Slayton’s banter only adds to the buzz surrounding this young quarterback’s potential future in the NFL.
