Before his entry into the NFL, Milton honed his skills at the University of Michigan, where he started his college career in 2018. Following three seasons with the Wolverines, he transferred to Tennessee, where he enjoyed a standout year in 2023. That season, Milton recorded an impressive 12 starts, amassing 2,813 passing yards, delivering 20 touchdowns, and throwing just five interceptions. His versatility was evident as he also rushed 78 times for 299 yards, crossing the goal line seven times.
During his rookie year with the Patriots in 2024, Milton’s appearances were limited, finding himself in a competitive environment where New England had also acquired two other quarterbacks, including the heralded Drake Maye from UNC as the third overall pick. Maye firmly held the starting spot, which left Milton observing from the sidelines.
