In the men’s singles competition, a surprising twist came when German top seed Alexander Zverev faced a defeat against France’s Arthur Fils in the fourth round. Zverev’s journey ended with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 loss to the 17th-seed Fils, which leaves Taylor Fritz and Novak Djokovic as the sole top-10 seeds still standing in the quarterfinals.

Djokovic, who was seeded fourth, was initially set to play his quarter-final against the 24th-seed from America, Sebastian Korda, later on Wednesday. However, to comply with ATP regulations that prevent matches from starting past 11:00 PM local time, this game was rescheduled to Thursday. Organizers of the Miami Open shared that this match will kick off as the third game of the day, starting from 1:00 PM local time (5:00 PM GMT).

The victor of this face-off will then challenge Bulgarian 14th seed Grigor Dimitrov. Dimitrov showcased an impressive combination of mental and physical prowess to overcome Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo. The 33-year-old Dimitrov found himself unable to capitalize on seven set points in the opening set, appearing fatigued as the match progressed. Nevertheless, he pushed through and secured a 6-7 (6-8), 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) victory. Shortly after his win, Dimitrov was visibly winded and received a medical check-up while sitting courtside.

In men’s doubles action, the British duo of Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool advanced to the semi-finals. They clinched their spot with a 7-6 (7-1), 3-6, 10-8 triumph over India’s Yuki Bhambri and Portugal’s Nuno Borges, adding another highlight to the day’s impressive tennis displays.
