These 20 PGA Tour Pros are the Most Accurate off the Tee—Discover Their Clubs and Techniques
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

We’ve recently taken a deep dive into the gear used by the PGA Tour’s most powerful drivers, but now it’s time to shift our focus to those who excel in precision—those who consistently hit the fairways. Now, I’ve always found the numbers fascinating, but typically, PGA Tour stats don’t unveil such clear stories. Surprisingly, one brand has established a stronghold among the straight shooters, with 40 percent of the top players opting for it. Even more intriguing is how this balance between distance and accuracy aligns perfectly with a trend we’ve noticed in our Best Golf Driver tests over the years.

PGA Tour Professionals with the Highest Fairways Hit Percentage

According to data from March 2025, only seven PGA Tour players manage to find the fairway more than 70 percent of the time. Takumi Kanaya leads the charge, hitting fairways over 80 percent of the time! For some context, the average 15-handicap golfer only finds the fairway roughly 48 percent of the time.

Player Name Fairways Hit % Driver Used
Takumi Kanaya 81.31% PING G410
Ben Kohles 74.43% Titleist TSR3
Lucas Glover 72.29% Srixon ZXi
Collin Morikawa 71.73% TaylorMade Qi35 LS
Brice Garnett 71.48% Callaway Paradym Triple Diamond
John Pak 70.59% TaylorMade Qi35 LS
Aaron Rai 70.29% TaylorMade M6
Victor Perez 69.10% PING G440 LST
Matteo Manassero 68.24% Titleist GT3
Paul Peterson 68.12% PING G430 LST
Max McGreevy 67.59% Srixon ZX5 Mk II
Sepp Straka 67.33% Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond
Rico Hoey 66.28% PING G440 LST
Russell Henley 66.16% PING G430 LST
Daniel Berger 66.09% PING G430 LST
Matt McCarty 65.97% Titleist TSi2
Sungjae Im 65.73% PING G440 LST
Corey Conners 65.57% PING G440 LST
Brandt Snedeker 65.24% Titleist TSR2
Andrew Putnam 65.12% Srixon ZX5 Mk II LS

What We Learned

If you’re looking to find a driver that perfectly fits your game and increases your chances of nailing those fairway shots, getting fitted is the way to go. While your swing speed might not match the pros on this list, it’s insightful to see which brands and models are helping golfers enhance their accuracy off the tee.

Drivers by Brand

PING dominates the charts with eight of the top 20 players using their clubs, making it the most popular choice for fairway accuracy. Following PING, Titleist comes in strong with four players trusting its drivers.

Drivers by Specific Model

The PING G440 LST stands out as the favorite among these precision players. Designed for those with higher swing speeds aiming to manage their ball flight, this low-spinner has captured the attention of three players. Takumi Kanaya, boasting the highest fairway hit rate, sticks with an older model, the PING G410. Another interesting note: only the TaylorMade Qi35 LS sees multiple players using it aside from these PING models.

How Long Are These 20 Golfers Off the Tee?

Sure, hitting the fairway consistently is wonderful, but let’s face it, adding some distance doesn’t hurt. I dug into the average driving distances of these 20 precision golfers, and here’s what I discovered.

Out of the top 20 fairway hitters, 17 fall below the current PGA Tour average driving distance of roughly 300 yards, with a few even sacrificing up to 20 yards off the tee compared to the average.

Victor Perez stands out as the longest hitter among them, averaging 306.5 yards. On the other end, Paul Peterson, one of the shorter hitters on Tour, averages 280.7 yards.

While most prioritize precision over power, Victor Perez (306.5 yds), Rico Hoey (305.7 yds), and Daniel Berger (302.5 yds) manage both, wielding PING LST models like the G440 or G430.

PING Drivers in Action

How Does This Compare to Our 2025 Driver Test?

In our 2025 driver test, PING models proved their mettle, with the PING G440 SFT earning third place for accuracy, closely followed by the PING G430 MAX 10K in fifth. Despite its popularity among Tour pros, the LST wasn’t the top performer in terms of accuracy.

The Callaway Elyte Triple Diamond shone brightly as the best golf driver for 2025, landing third in distance and second in accuracy, while the PING G440 SFT ranked 21st in distance. The familiar trade-off between accuracy and distance emerges here as well.

Interestingly, the Tour Edge Exotics E725 leads as the most accurate driver of the year but lags in distance, ranking 25th.

Top Drivers of 2025

Final Thoughts

A proper driver fitting is essential to strike the right balance between accuracy and distance. This data highlights how even the pros have to navigate these trade-offs. For the full scoop on the best golf drivers of 2025, check out our detailed guide.
